Frequently asked questions
What people ask us before uploading a first dump.
The full BIOS chip dump, read with a programmer, as a .bin or .rom file. For a two-chip board, upload both files together; the EC chip dump can be added, three files at most.
Yes. It does not change your file: it identifies the machine and tells you what is possible.
A few seconds for the analysis, as for most operations.
A file ready to program, named after the machine and the operation. For a two-chip board: one file per chip, with the chip to program shown.
An operation that does not apply to your dump is not offered, and the sheet says why.
Yes. Each operation starts again from the original dump, and you can also continue from a result. The history stays in the job.
They are isolated per account and erased 24 h after upload. The machine's identity is only visible from your account, never published or shared, and we sell no data.
Yes, with a programmer, on the machine the dump comes from. Always keep the original dump. An internal flash is not guaranteed.
A BIOS password is held by the BIOS; an EC password by the embedded controller, common on Dell, HP and Lenovo laptops. The analysis tells you which one is set, and the operation adapts to it.
Resetting the Intel ME to its factory state. Use it after a PCH (chipset) or board swap, when the SSD is no longer detected (the “SSD Fix”) or when the Wi-Fi is not. The ME is not disabled. To keep the machine's identity on a replacement board, use motherboard replacement.
A BIOS rebuilt from the manufacturer's official update for the same model, with your machine's identity: serial, UUID, MAC address, Windows key. For a BIOS too damaged to simply fix. The identity is that of the uploaded dump: for a replacement board, see motherboard replacement.
With the “Disable soldered RAM” operation: the machine then boots on the SO-DIMM stick, which must therefore be installed. Intel and AMD, DDR4 and DDR5.
To see what a manufacturer update contains and take out its BIOS, ME or EC images. The package is read, never executed. RAR archives are not opened: unpack them first.
With motherboard replacement: upload the old board's dump and the new one's. The new board keeps everything except the old board's identity: serial number, UUID, chassis number, Windows key. Acer on Compal boards: add the new board's EC dump. Lenovo ThinkPad and Acer on Quanta boards whose identity lives in the EC chip: refused.
It depends on the operation. The analysis reads Intel and AMD dumps, whatever the brand; Clear ME only works on Intel; the password, soldered RAM, rebuild and motherboard replacement each have their brands and conditions, detailed on the Coverage page along with what we do not do.
No. It recognises a destroyed or badly read chip; a finely erased sector only shows next to a healthy image of the same board. No verdict promises that the machine boots.
