Operation

Carry the identity over to the EC (Acer, Compal board)

On Acer machines with Compal boards (Nitro, Predator and others), the machine's identity lives in the embedded controller (EC) chip, not in the BIOS. After a board swap, reprogramming the original BIOS leaves Setup with a placeholder identity. The site writes the identity page into the new board's EC dump, and nothing else.

Every operation is free during launch.

When to use it

  • Serial number and model blank after a board swap (Acer)
  • Placeholder identity in Setup ("1234567890…")

An Acer whose serial number and model are blank after a board swap, a placeholder identity ("1234567890") in Setup, the new board's EC to prepare before fitting.

At a glance

What it does
Writes the machine's identity page (serial number, model, UUID) into the new board's EC chip dump, and nothing else. The BIOS is not modified.
Which machines
Acer and Packard Bell on Compal boards. EC chip of 64, 128, 256 or 512 KB.
What you get
The EC to program, with the identity in place; the original BIOS is left untouched.
Good to know
Refused when the BIOS carries no copy of the identity, or when the page cannot be found in the EC.

How it goes

  1. 01

    Upload the dump

The .bin or .rom file read with your programmer; both files for a two-chip board.

  2. 02

    Read the sheet

In seconds and free: the machine, the chip's state, the possible operations.

  3. 03

    Run the operation

Pick one of those the sheet offers. If the operation cannot complete, the refusal says why and no file is delivered.

  4. 04

    Program the file

Download it and program the chip. Always keep the original dump.

Frequently asked questions

What holds for every operation

Several operations, one upload

After an operation, run another on the same dump, or continue from the result. Every job keeps its history.

Two-chip BIOS

Upload both files: they are analysed together, and the result says which chip to program.

Related operations

Motherboard replacement

The new board keeps everything but the identity: that comes from the old board.

Intel and AMD, one or two chips, same chip sizes on both sides. Acer on Compal boards: also add the new board's EC chip dump.

Rebuild from the manufacturer update

A BIOS rebuilt from the official update, with your machine's identity.

Intel and AMD, one or two chips, with the manufacturer's update for that model.
