Operation
Disable soldered RAM
The soldered memory has failed and the machine has a slot. After the operation the soldered memory is no longer used: the machine boots on the SO-DIMM stick.
Every operation is free during launch.
When to disable soldered RAM
- Failed soldered RAM
- Memory errors, random crashes
- No longer boots (memory beeps, black screen)
Random memory errors, blue screen or black screen with beeps at boot, failing memory test, faulty soldered memory chip: a stick in the slot, and the machine boots on it.
At a glance
- What it does
- For failed soldered RAM: all the memory soldered to the board stops being used, the machine boots on the SO-DIMM stick. The rest of the dump does not change.
- Which machines
- Intel and AMD, DDR4 and DDR5.
- What you get
- The file to program, checked before delivery.
- Good to know
- A SO-DIMM stick must be installed in the slot.
Soldered RAM: what is supported
- Laptops with memory soldered to the board that also have a SO-DIMM slot.
- Intel and AMD: the platform is recognised from the dump.
- DDR4 and DDR5.
- All the soldered memory the dump describes, every copy included: nothing is left half active.
- A two-chip board: the operation works on the chip that holds the BIOS.
- The rest of the dump is left alone: settings, serial number, MAC address, Windows key.
- A file checked before delivery: an image that does not check out is not delivered.
What disabling does not do
- It does not disable a single channel or a single chip: all the soldered memory is disabled.
- It does not repair the soldered memory: the machine simply stops using it.
- Not on a machine without a slot: it would have no memory left.
- Not on a dump where the soldered RAM is already disabled: there is nothing to do.
- Not when the dump describes no soldered memory, or the chip uploaded does not hold the BIOS.
- It does not replace the stick: a SO-DIMM must be installed before the first boot.
- An internal flash is not guaranteed: program the file with a programmer.
How it goes
- 01
Upload the dump
The .bin or .rom file read with your programmer; both files for a two-chip board.
- 02
Read the sheet
In seconds and free: the machine, the chip's state, the possible operations.
- 03
Run the operation
Pick one of those the sheet offers. If the operation cannot complete, the refusal says why and no file is delivered.
- 04
Program the file
Download it and program the chip. Always keep the original dump.
What holds for every operation
Several operations, one upload
After an operation, run another on the same dump, or continue from the result. Every job keeps its history.
Two-chip BIOS
Upload both files: they are analysed together, and the result says which chip to program.
Related operations
Dump analysis
Free and instant: the machine's sheet and the possible operations.
Any BIOS chip dump read with a programmer, .bin or .rom: one or two chips, plus the EC chip dump.
Rebuild from the manufacturer update
A BIOS rebuilt from the official update, with your machine's identity.
Intel and AMD, one or two chips, with the manufacturer's update for that model.
Start with an upload
Create an account and upload the file: only the operations that apply are offered to you.
